The Cat's Argument

The Cat's Argument

A Poem by Lady Wolf

In that space of time

Between sleeping and awake

It occurred to me,

If aliens were ever to visit

There is a good chance

They would mistake

The common house cat

As the dominate species

And as I look at my cat,

Who has,

Once again,

Taken up more bedspace

Than should be possible

For a creature his size,

He blinks.

Slowly.

As if arguing

It wouldn't be a mistake.
