self-conscious

self-conscious

A Poem by insomniyac

who could love a girl like me?
I mean, it's so easy to see...
all of my flaws
tan skin, messy hair
so easily compared to all my friends standing there

they're all size ones and zeroes
yet still think they're repulsively fat
I look at myself and die a lot inside...
all because of that

They're pretty with fair skin,
brown eyes that sparkle & shine
I've got nothing to be proud of
nothing beautiful that is mine

Here I am, so insecure
breaking down inside cause self- consciousness has no cure
who could love a girl like me?
... certainly not anybody

'Wanting to be someone else, is a waste of the person you are' - A quote from my hero, Kurt Cobain. Beauty is not just skin deep and we can all be shallow and forget that sometimes.
Everyone can relate to this poem, we've all felt like this at some point.

A sad topic, and written in such a blunt, straightforward way as if to say "that's life, no one said it was going to be fair". Your writing style is unique, less frilly poetic language in preference of a more slam-like style. I like it. Obviously I've never met you before, but if you can express yourself so personally in a way that many people lack the talent to do, then how can you not be beautiful?
