1A Chapter by tanTattoo. I should apologise for beginning with such a noun that associates attribute and idiosyncrasy with the character in which i am portraying myself to be. In any case, i’m sure the fact that ‘tattoo’ isn’t the point of my writing will have you at least initiate some sort of interest to my work. 2016 - my teenage temerarious year - I decided it would be smart of me to deflower my tattoo chasteness, that an ink bind needle ripping along the cells in my skin to cause a permanent mark of not so ‘significant’ means, would be cool. The idea in its own may be deemed as peculiar, however the rising issue throughout the fortnight prior to my appointment, such an issue that had been questioning itself repeatedly, I just didn’t know ‘ what tattoo should i get?’. Assyrian. Another noun, in fact an uncommon dialect, an ethnic origin. For seventeen years, every sunday I was surrounded by people of my culture or ‘outsiders’ who must’ve assumed I was unethical. When they asked me where I was from, I couldn’t say ‘Spain’,‘Greece’, or simply ‘Iraq’, since that wasn’t true, and when applying for schools or jobs, I would regularly draw my own personal blocks under the option boxes which ask your ethnicity because none of them resembled where I was from. The awe and jealousy inside me gradually increased as I watched colleagues answer so simply, well let’s just assume I lived the life of Othello having been born into manipulation to consume envy towards those with some sort of an ‘easier’ lifestyle. The appreciation and love for my country is extensive, and on these words I have learnt the deepest of information, and am able to explain to you exactly what Assyria is. It’s located in north Mesopotamia and spans four countries: In Syria it extends west to the Euphrates river; in Turkey it extends north to Harran, Edessa, Diyarbakir, and Lake Van; in Iran it extends east to Lake Urmi, and in Iraq it extends to about 100 miles south of Kirkuk. So realistically speaking, I’m from Syria, Turkey, Iran and Iraq. North Iraq is the Assyrian heartland, from which so much of the ancient Near East came to be controlled. It would be safe for me to estimate that only a small fraction of the world’s population would even be aware of the Assyrian community if asked today, and so I believe myself to be such a sui generis individual, one who thrives to increase the knowledge and understanding of today’s society, maybe to make my life easier, but also for the power of a so largely spread kingdom to be recognised. © 2017 tanAuthor's Note
