![]() WrongA Poem by Kay![]() We have a problem when our knee-jerk response is to assume no one knows what they're talking about.![]() People are always wrong, not right because everyone sees the world in black and white. There’s no wriggle room for those who speak too soon and make a mistake. We don’t have time to educate just to correct based on assumptions we draw from wikipedia. It’s all about that social media. And I do it too. If someone tweets it, it seems true but all it takes is an underscore to throw someone’s life overboard. It may be Machiavellian but it’s our generation’s rebellion against our parents, and against the world. They may think they know what they’re talking about but I know better - I’ve seen Easy A so, yeah, I understand the Scarlet Letter. Drawing conclusions from air because we can’t find where to actually look. Hundred thousand results on Google but we haven’t got a clue as to what half of them mean. Reliable sources, there are too many choices, and if all else fails it’s not my fault. That’s what it comes down to - I don’t know about you but I don’t want that kind of responsibility to report back on every single activity that brought me here. May be conceited, but it’s a fear of being wrong. If I’m supposed to fit I can’t slip and make a mistake. ‘Cause that’s all it would take to end up ostracized. One of the things we do these days is compartmentalize and we don’t seem to realize that people don’t fit in neat little boxes of right and wrong. It’s all about accuracy - Who’s right? You or me? What it boils down to is the toil we put in to understanding… There isn’t much. We are a generation that is out of touch with each other. Sure, we can text, like and tweet but we can’t be bothered to meet in the middle or meet at all. If somehow there are meetings And we get to real conversation there’s no opportunity for relation because we get caught up on opinion. Always no, never yes. No consideration for the question just jump in and tell them they’re wrong It’s easiest to feel safe if you’re in the know, it’s all a matter of control because if the world “can’t handle you” then everyone in it is wrong, too. Taking responsibility simply can’t be a priority if your goal is to override authority and prove you’re the best as though life is some sort of test at which you can win. But don’t take my word on it ‘cause after all I’m probably wrong. © 2011 KayAuthor's Note
