Remember when?

Remember when?

A Story by Maggie
"

babbles and more babbles.

"
Remember when we sat on the curb, cross-legged and light-headed, breath mingling with our shared whispers.Smoke left our mouths in swirls and faded into nothing, seeping into the black ink scattered with glitter that was the night sky. We were numb, and it was just the two of us. Always just the two of us.There was heart-crushing, mind-numbing pain that seemed to envelop us both, it was always just the two of us.

Remember when being told to 'cheer up' would turn your vision red and cause your muscles to clench involuntarily? How your teeth would grind against each other to keep back that smart-a*s remark that was always ready on the tip of your tongue?

Remember when the pain got so bad, that it suddenly disappeared and all that you were left with was nothing. Just a numbness that caused you to feel like you were having an outer-body experience, just drifting, and not really existing.

Remember when you got over it, and left me behind?

I feel it's odd that I can relate completely. Your words painted a memory long since forgotten. It is both depressing and uplifting in a way, you remember somewhat better days only to have them followed by the very same pain that caused you to try and forget those days in the first place.

Well you have officially got me thinking now.
Nice write Maggie.
