Extinguishing My Fire

Extinguishing My Fire

A Poem by shanise

I have a fire,

that burns bright inside of me.

I have a fire,

that lights the path I choose.

I have a fire,

that jumps when I care.

I have a fire,

that tells me when to go.

I have a fire,

that shows me how to live.

I have a fire,

the shows who I am.

I have a fire,

that burns when I’m at home.

I have a fire,

that starts to fade when I cry.

I have a fire,

that will die out if I am not where I need to be.

To extinguish my fire,

smother me and tell me I am no more.
