The Poppy

The Poppy

A Poem by shanise
"

my remembrence day poem

"

 A single flower,
the pettles stained red,
forever.

A single flower,
to say,
remember me.

A single flower,
found in fields.
remember the cost.

A single flower,
sees the tears,
flowing freely.

A single flower,
heard the gunshots,
saw them fall.

A single flower,
covers the markers,
of the brave.

A single flower,
the sign of the lost,
of the loved.

A single flower,
is what we use,
to say, "we remember."

Superb
it almost tells the story of a soldier
and the repetition at the beginning of each stanza makes this poem quite spectacular

This is really beautiful, and completely appropriate for "Vetern's Day." This really reminds me of a graveyard I live by, and there isn't a name on some of the headstones; just a flag and a flower. Very lovely, thank you for sharing :)
