'The Angel' 2005

 I HAD BEGUN going to church in 2004 and was increasing my faith though bible studies. When The Angel vision came to me, it was without a doubt beyond me. I had never dreamt of my step-father, or the scary house I’d lived in, some twenty years prior. When we lived with him he ruled the house and everyone in it. There was a time I said in exasperation, “Who is he, God?”. He seemed to know everything and I got caught and punished at every turn. I never imagined seeing this man as an angel, but it was the timing of this vision that made it the most convincing vision I’d ever had.

  

Standing in front of my step-father’s old stone house, firmly planted at the edge of the property separated by a beautiful yellow wall, as far as I could see, blocking the house from my view, with a door at the center, perfectly aligned with the front door to the house. Looking through the door at a vast area of white bright light with a very handsome man, suited up, in his prime. He was taller than the door frame, blocking his face from my view, or perhaps from my recollection. I woke sensing I’d seen my step-father, though he seemed more like an angel, or perhaps a restored version of his younger self; he was of unusually great stature, beyond his real life vessel, and glowing as if he was standing at the gate of heaven by a small door.

 

            The vision was so vivid, I drew a sketch the moment I woke, but then went on with my day and forgot about it.

 

Two days later my sister called. She was the only one who kept in touch with our step-father, most of the time. She informed me that two days prior he had been in critical condition. He almost died and was given six months to live. It dawned on me, this dream was not “of me”, how could it be? The vision softened this man for me. He was a father figure after-all, both good and bad. I am left with great solace and vision that he is with God. It also encouraged me to visit him and I got to see him before he passed from here to heaven.
