Learn, Know, Love!

Learn, Know, Love!

"

Learn, Know, Love!

Learning we loved backwards
Yes, backwards! Now I know!

Love, Know, Learn?

I was not speaking your Love Language* in the right order…
Acts of Service, Gifts, Touch, Quality Time, Words of Affirmation

And you were not speaking mine…
Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Touch, Gifts, Acts of Service

We love others the way we want to be loved
Unbeknownst to us that we are actually not displaying love
Not in a language the other can understand

Babel! So revealing!
Despite it being too late
Worn and crumbled never to be rebuilt

So many years of loving both wrong
The hurts reach depths I cannot erase

At least I don’t want too, I’m too stubborn or too hurt or too scared…
Sadly too UN-Affirmed! You UN-served!
This is not about forgiving! This is about growing.

Love, Know, Learn?
Flip the order for success! Learn, Know… Love

We know we have to know love to give love to receive love…etc.
But we’ve got to go deeper
This love order starts etching it’s way in us from the moment we arrive

If you want to know your language, look to how YOU were loved
You may find it’s how YOU love! But not how others want to be loved

From age 3 on the stage receiving Words of Affirmation
Always the cutest, the little peanut, the baby, but ahead of my time!
This set my language in motion… I must be affirmed!

When you brought me a donut, I was thankful, but not loved
With your disapproval I was certain you did not love me despite being full I was starving

With my disapproval you brushed it off like a fly (what fly? for that matter) and wondered where your donut was… you were starving

This is so far beyond being from different planets, which is generalized teaching that may guide you incorrectly, reader beware!

We’ve got to fill our own lieben tank
Fuel to begin to speak the language of others
Until we do, it is babel, which is the core of misunderstanding, resentment, hurt, and hate.

This was an interesting piece and brings many thoughtful questions to my mind about how different things carry more weight with a female than it would with yur typical male and vis versa. Titles like Men are from Mars and woman are from Venus come to mind when I try to think of a book this piece remionds me of which is a complement considering how sucessful that book was.
Go on mouse. This was a great piece.

You go girl! Exploring the infinite ways to love and be loved. The only thing I know for sure about love is that it's really a verb, not a feeling. If you're not actively showing love, what is it that you are doing? Reminds me a bit of Women are from Venus, Men are from Mars. How can we possibly love each other the same?? We can't. That's why we work through conflicts, talk it out, hopefully leaving both parties enlightened and on the same page. Usually, though, it's just yelling and slamming of doors. Ah, love. What a wonder it is. Excellent write!

It's true... It is as if men are a completely different species to women and vis versa. I don't understand my guy-friends-- especially the ones I have feelings for-- and it bugs me -_- I could go one day thinking my crush didnt like me as much as I liked him, and then he'd talk to me and I'd almost feel the love... well, there's not really supposed to be LOVE in a friendly conversation, but to me, it's something that brings us even a little bit closer... sorta. so yes, what you're saying could not be any more true. good work!

well...interesting to say the least...I think this could be expanded to almost anything you share with someone else...we all have our own ideas of love, friendship, family...perhaps learned early, perhaps we are just born that way....differences make the world go round...but they certainly can lead to a lot of misunderstandings. an excellent write...very creative!
