ghosts

ghosts

A Poem by Erin Michelle

she woke up one morning
feeling eerie, feeling haunted
by the dreams that filled
her sleep the night before.
the sun poked through the
ivory curtains,
the ones that had a coffee
stain from an early morning.
when she brushed away
the creme sheets,
she ruffled her hair,
she stretched,
her white tank barely reaching
past her warm belly,
and there was emptiness beneath
the sheets,
like a ghost,
like the sun had brushed everything

away.
