reminiscenceA Poem by Erin Michelle
the snow outside reflects a strong, bright light through the open blinds.
you are still in your boxer shorts and tattered t-shirt. hair is like a nest for a rat, your eyes watery and blue. your face is puffy from sleep (you went to bed at 2 a.m you know). it's nearly after noon, but you just woke up. the black coffee seeps in to your blood, waking you, slowly. your head hurts, your body is weak, your palms are sweaty. the soft couch pulls you in, asking you to stay for a while. the hot coffee burns your throat, but it tastes so good. for a while your mind is groggy, not able to think. but as the coffee works its magic, you begin to think about last night. yes, those good vibes you haven't felt for so long. they make you alive, they remind you that love is okay. love isn't meant to kill. it's meant for moments like goosebumps after the brush of the skins, the skip of the heart after you lay your head on his shoulder, the loud beating of the pulse when you touch hands. the calm darkness of last night is blinded once again by the afternoon sunshine. ah, yes, the scent of his body still lingers on the couch. © 2013 Erin MichelleAuthor's Note
