The Magnolia TreeA Poem by littlegirl30A poem about the heartbreak of foreclosure
It must have been that old tree
That made me really want this place Something about the emerald of its leaves Must have convinced me to stay The way our children played together Without worry or care, running free We carefully planned out forever 'Neath the magnolia tree Summers were spent, their legs dangling from its limbs Until the bright and gleaming skies began to gray Out the front door, I'd call out for them And patiently, they'd wait for the following day Oh, the beauty of that freshly fallen snow And the way it settled in the crevices of the leaves We twirled about together as you recorded the show We made many memories 'neath the magnolia tree Though time has seen our shattered dreams And our house is nothing more than four walls Still standing is that old tree It's what brought us here afterall I whisper a prayer into the wind And with a sigh, I set our hopes free If I must start over again, please let it begin 'Neath the magnolia tree © 2013 littlegirl30Author's Note
