![]() Cage I've MadeA Poem by Gregory Stires
Darkness rising,
Void consuming, Clouds are dark and crying, Shadows haunting the mind, Hiding from the stares of judgement, Alone in the shadows of darkness My thoughts become my enemy, Reminded of flaws, past mistakes, and failures, Wanting to disappear from this cruel world That has cursed my existence With the whispers of malice said behind my back, Ignored for not being societies image, So easy to act like I'm fine When in reality my mind cracks Piece by piece like a shattering glass, Their words filled with malice pierces My soul Like a spear. Honesty is what my opinions are, And for that I am considered an a*****e, Because they rather hear lies Than the honest damn truth That they ignore, When unlike them I face the ugly truth inside, I know I have problems, I shouldn't dwell on them but its hard not to, I am arrogant for I look down upon Those who treat life as a game they can Make mistakes in, But in the game of reality One mistake can cost them everything. I am a caged bird who has created His own prison, Made from the shadows I run from, One day I will break free from This cage of shadows And soar the night sky with my life shining bright, But until then my light will be hidden within the void of this prison, Until I reach it and grasp it, To eradicate my shadows and step into my light. © 2015 Gregory Stires |
