let's play Pretend

A Poem by Angel
"

A poem about our dreams and how they can sometimes lead us astray.

"

A dream is a wish your heart makes
when you're fast asleep.
In dreams you can lose your heartache

    {or your mind}
Whatever you wish, for you keep.

Did I wish for cryptic kisses

whispered between the folds

of my novels?

Did I wish for Cleopatra’s

gems to adorn my ears

which gave me her love

affairs?

No, I dreamt of mystery men
with faceless skulls

and feetless ankles.

I dreamt of raven claws

digging into my membrane

and cooing in the ears

of lost lovers.

Is the song true?
Whatever I wish for I keep?

I wish for summer cottages

with ivory scaling the

sides and dogs barking and

tea kettles boiling but

not this. Not you.

A dream is a wish your heart makes
when you're fast asleep.
In dreams you can lose your heartache

    {or your mind}
Whatever you wish, for you keep
                    {or destroy. It’s your choice hun}
