sometimes it can hard to tell just who are the good guys and the bad. i think my an thoreau had it right when he wrote, “When the true criminals are running around free, the only honorable place for a decent human being is in prisons.” i like the thought in this.

Natural reason should direct us, but natural reason might be immoral... did the words come before t.. read moreNatural reason should direct us, but natural reason might be immoral... did the words come before the sentiment? We will never know. In the meantime, it seems, when given the chance humans are rapacious when it comes down to it. Until that changes, Henry David and others like Thomas Hobbes remain unproven if not defeated. Morality lies in who defines it, not in what it is. So it seems.

If your moral compass depends upon outward belief who are you really? Have you really seen your own.. read moreIf your moral compass depends upon outward belief who are you really? Have you really seen your own bedrock? Most people haven't suffered enough or seen what reality truly has to offer. Being "good" is a luxury most people never see the other side of. True morality has a cost most people I've met aren't willing to be (wether they know it or not, I can tell)

no, not confrontational at all - just discussing. i think we're born with a "good" moral compass bu.. read moreno, not confrontational at all - just discussing. i think we're born with a "good" moral compass but living in a fallen world influences us. i think who we are is who god created us to be so i don't think that we have as much say about it as you seem to think. i don't think that it's as gray as you make it out to be, i think it's more black and white - something/someone is either good or bad, right or wrong and if i question something i turn to the authority - the bible or ask myself what would christ do in a given situation.
