Hearts of Clay

Hearts of Clay

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"
as the present becomes further
each day from the beginning
I see how youth is malleable
how age is like a rock
that the present is more like plastic
slowly changing
in transition
hardening
slowly
as the present becomes further
each day from the beginning

The imagery of youth being malleable like clay and age being solid like rock is powerful and evocative. The comparison of the present to plastic, slowly hardening, adds a layer of introspection about how we change and solidify over time. It's a thoughtful and reflective piece that invites readers to ponder their own journey through life.

we are made of clay, hearts and all. earth to earth...one day, we shall re-turn to "clay."
but the heart is not just a material organ; it has an invisible counterpart, and that actually opens up more and more as one ages, for it does not belong to the earth.

Awesome introspection and metaphoric projection. May we be mouldable for longer and keep further nearer each day!
