I love the songs of birds sometimes but I do not like to be woken up by their chattering lol. We have hummingbirds feeders and a bird feeder. We keep some close to the house and some farther out in the yard.
I wouldn’t much care for the s**t on the porch neither but their songs are beautiful. Maybe move the feeder off the porch lol
I love the humor in this poems. I truly enjoyed reading this piece
birds are some of my favorite people and offer a great insight in what to expect from my other people about whom I have to agree what I get from them I must consider, " it is the least i can do to take a little s**t for this beauty" love the brevity, directness, and truth expressed here - carl

Excellent. I feel much the same ... the turds have to be a price I'm willing to pay for the beautiful songs I get in the morning (especially this time of year with the mockingbirds and grackles showing off their skills). ~Jim
A beautiful poem D. Smile inducing, but packing a great wallop of wisdom.
I do have one small thought, you might want to consider. In your concluding line, the insertion of "our" nature, would to my mind, add a significant kick. Tying you, the birds, and readers to the shared nature of our natures.
Thank you.

I didn't include "our" in the last line because I don't think it is just our nature, it is nature in general... we participate in it but it certainly is not ours.

The essence of how we perceive and are perceived by the world. And that was the idea I had, that drawing your reader into the line might heighten the awareness.
either way, just a thought. I really enjoyed the poem

I see your point now, I think you might be on to something.

This little poem brought on a smile. Bird song feeds my soul too. It reminds me of give and take. Our avian friends give, but they also take the piss by crapping on our doorstep. Isn’t that just life? I really like your thinking here :)
Davidgeo,
People are weird. Beauty is always a blessing, even if we have to clean up afterward. It takes a bulldozer to clean up after any outdoor gathering of humans...I wonder what the birds think of us?

A very heartful and realistic poem, author Davidgeo. Even if they appear to be unmannerly guests, I guess they still consider you a friend or a regular face amongst themselves now, how fun. A short but lovely poem, author Davidgeo, thank you for sharing your work.
And also...
Some studies have shown bird faeces can be beneficial to the growth of gardens, so perhaps by feeding the birds, you have helped the flowers and lawn by porch growing more green and developed, author Davidgeo.
Some beliefs in the East also believe that bird faeces are a sign of good luck as birds are often believed to be angels, servants of deities or local gods themselves in disguise (this depends on the type of bird) and the fact that they had shredded a part of their essence on our grounds mean they have blessed it (this in science can also be justified because only in the more habitable environments may wildlife coexist in harmony with humans, which can equate to less pollution in the area, etc.)
"Believe it or not, bird poop is a great additive to any fertilizer or compost. The phosphorus in the droppings and other nutrients makes it highly beneficial to your garden, especially for green vegetables. Make sure it is covered with compost to avoid the risk of airborne contamination."
