Fewer friends Means More Friends

Fewer friends Means More Friends

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"
down the river of small group disagreement
when we are in the flesh
this is where the empathy flows more easily
sailing down our river freely
when we can look into each others eyes
and truly wish upon each other, somewhat better lives

in this ocean of faceless mass entertainment
crushed in the digital press
swimming in normalized linguistic violence
all around you like a hurricane of grievance
 oh my friend's list!!
how there is no friend, unless we agree
that the other is always evil, agree we must

and what use now is compromise...
from this
when hate is now what is monetized

now the enemy comes more easily
when we live in abstract rage
praying to the gods of grievance
when we remove the human face
and put the enemy in its place
United States of America style...
i.e if indeed it pays us money
how could indeed it be so evil?
(a friend of a stranger asked a friend of a stranger)

"oh my friends!!  there is no friend." --  Some Dude, maybe aristotle

Weird, i was just pulling up this site and i saw your profile pic. I had just got out of my truck where i was listening to No Country for Old Men. Anywho, i like the original way you you framed this societal comment. The first stanza is really good. It is so true that our thoughts about friendship have changed. Too many people with too much information (true or not) clinging to talking points and preconceived beliefs that have taken over our ability to simply get to know one another outside of thst framework. Bravo, loved it!!
