Always Forgive the Copilot

Always Forgive the Copilot

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

And the copilot will forgive you

"
i cannot leave you
though i hate you
and you hate me
we cannot part ways
we cannot give up
everywhere we will go
there it is and always will be
this is you and that is me
and that is us and this is we
again around in circles again
how i f*****g hate you
and how you f*****g hate me
but as it is, it is all we f*****g got
as it is, there's no one quite the same
there is nothing quite like us
not to you
and not to me
so i will always forgive you
if you will promise to forgive me
and maybe we'll want to stay
again closer together
and remember our love all over again
maybe even a little closer this time
as the same thing, but in a different person

While the easy read, and the one I suspect the poem is about, is the toxic wasteland of two lovers so long entwined they're no longer capable of being without the scent of each other. Once you've reached a certain age, we've all been there, done that, or so I imagine.

For myself, reading this moving verse, I found my thoughts moving off in another direction. To a poem, created for and to one's self. A ying-yang of self-awareness. Love and loathing. Certainty vs discombobulation, or perhaps better put, disillusionment with the mirror view of one's self.

Not saying that this is your intention D, just that that's where the monologue took me. Which opened an interesting internal argument inside my own head for a bit.

enjoyable poem

Sounds like a toxic relationship but there is a lot of love in those relationships even though they're bad for us and there's always hope for improvements that usually never comes.
