It is inside here

in one lifetime there is never enough time

for all the living alive

to fall in love with all of the love 

or to be loved very truly, for all of the time

this is our ocean, its surface is infinite

and the depths are deeper than numbers can count

so don't be sad about what was lost

or what you think you never found

just be glad over what you've made

from the things you got to have

from this time that your life allowed

inside of one lifetime

you can find just enough

someone's perfect amount

I had to read this several times.. so much truth here although we rarely see it at a glance.. as my life approaches it's downward path I think of many things I always thought I would do or see or become.. or what I might do next.. your words touched me deeply..

I read a book a long time ago called "Four Thousand Weeks - Time Management For Mortals", it's based around the idea that the average human lives about 4000 weeks in their lifetime and what that really means in terms of being realistic about achieving personal happiness. It's reasonable to assume that blind ambition is no less of a trap than being hopelessly lazy. The book makes it important to understand that we cannot change the past or know the future so spending our time in the present with what and who we have close to us as much as possible is always the best option.

Thanks for your review and I do agree. Envy is an emotional parasite to our presence of mind. So much energy is wasted on jealousy, envy and regret... it's robbed humanity of countless individual's potential over time. Aging makes us realize what loss really is, we evolve as people and things must be left behind if we are to have a functional present. Many of us resist this to our detriment. "Too much but never enough"

I have long since let go of wanting what others have! I may want things for myself that I alone are interested in but not to keep up with appearances or what others have lol Don’t get me wrong 😑 have my downfalls like everyone else

Thank you for that. I tried to combine the general concept of black holes with the ups and downs of life. I frequently try and write about this very same thing, it's mostly awful though. I liked this one however, and I'm glad you enjoyed it too!!

One lifetime and some people can cram so much in it and achieve great things, while others can lose their way and achieve nothing. It is all down to us to make the most of the time we have. I don’t want to have regrets. I enjoyed this poem.

Regrets may be unavoidable, but if you love yourself... forgiveness is always there. People don't love themselves enough. We forget, for whatever reason, NO ONE can love you like your own conciousness can. That's why when you can find someone genuinely close to you, it's important to keep them close. Even if they turn out to be your enemy. No one knows you like your enemy. It's a different kind of love.

I like to think that trying hard as an individual is important to keeping the species going but, if we extrapolate that into the larger picture, we might be burning what we have for a promise that was never meant to come true. Jesus and the sacrifice parable is greatly misunderstood I think, we aren't supposed to sacrifice for the sake of material progress or immediate personal gain, but rather to a more existential type of progress that lasts longer than a single generation. Empathy and understanding... learning from each other instead forcing our teachings on the other... these are the traits are that make the human species great... not the constant urge to acquire more, but the desire to make what is already precious to you better. We all try too hard. It is a decision we are born into... I fear for the future of western civiliation.
