It is inside here

in one lifetime there is never enough time

for all the living alive

to fall in love with all of the love 

or to be loved very truly, for all of the time

this is our ocean, its surface is infinite

and the depths are deeper than numbers can count

so don't be sad about what was lost

or what you think you never found

just be glad over what you've made

from the things you got to have

from this time that your life allowed

inside of one lifetime

you can find just enough

someone's perfect amount

I had to read this several times.. so much truth here although we rarely see it at a glance.. as my life approaches it's downward path I think of many things I always thought I would do or see or become.. or what I might do next.. your words touched me deeply..

I read a book a long time ago called "Four Thousand Weeks - Time Management For Mortals", it's based around the idea that the average human lives about 4000 weeks in their lifetime and what that really means in terms of being realistic about achieving personal happiness. It's reasonable to assume that blind ambition is no less of a trap than being hopelessly lazy. The book makes it important to understand that we cannot change the past or know the future so spending our time in the present with what and who we have close to us as much as possible is always the best option.

Hello Davidgeo!! I was looking at some of your poems and stumbled across this one. There is so much depth and meaning to what you have said and what you have to say. You will never be able to achieve all your dreams in life... This statement seems hurtful but it is true and real.
A friend of mine told me one day that I lived as if I could die at any moment but he felt as if he would never die and would die after achieving every dream in his life. So we realized how different we thought and went our separate ways. We were both wrong. Because time is only now, life can be at any moment and death can be at any moment. Finding time. A beautiful term.

The sentiment is wish-full, but our realities may preclude a simple answer. Circumstance can play a striking role in the timing of many actions.

Accept the circumstances and your actions will be more reasoned. The sentiment in this poem is not at all wish full, it is about acceptance and making the best of what you have in front of you and letting go of wishful thinking. I don't think you read the same poem that I wrote... you seem to have gotten the opposite message.

Delightful read. Wise words here. There is not enough time to appreciate everything in us, around us or things bestowed upon us. This is a poem reads to me like "gratitude" , count your blessings and be happy and content. The poem flows so smoothly with words of wisdom sprinkled in every line. Wow, what an amazing poem, and how thought provoking it is. I really like the first stanza as well. It seems almost like it was written by someone omniscient. It's worded beautifully and rolls off the tongue fluently.
