Davidgeo,
Well, it is a sure thing that somebody made something up! If a person has faith and believes in God, and the other guy has the same amount of faith that there is no God, do they cancel each other out? Or are they Buddhists in a universe that is only an illusion. It is much harder to prove a negative than a positive... Maybe you only think you think there is no God...Beware the RABBIT HOLE! Fall into that and there is no telling what might happen.
BTW... Many Quantum Physicists are beginning to believe that the Universe itself is conscious, but the big question is what pronoun would IT want us to use?

I think the universe is "concious"... but i also think "it's" using a language we have yet to figure out. And it has nothing to do with language or conscious thought. Of course, who knows? If you really believe in your faith that's the most important question... what you will rely on your moral compass to guide you toward an approximate answer (real answers don't exist there).

I like hindu religion becuase they focus on how god can become the devil if you use his knowledge wrong. Western religions focus more on "do this and you will get that"... hindu religon's focus on "why do you do this? what makes you right today as opposed to tomorrow?". I'm jewish but, I have no religion. The findest piece of religious text I've read is the gita. The jesus parable is a close second but... it's not an original story and it focuses on suffering to the point of glorification which is borderline "immoral" depending upon who you ask.... Like the church has always confused belief with superstition, so no one with any mind at all follows them anymore. I find Buddhism to have too many things that just seem little more than superstition as well in light of what we know today. They also can serve as a fine moral compass... set of rules to live by.
I've been an ordained minister of sorts, born at a Bible college, and from generations of preachers. Holy Rollers at that... but wise, and comfortable with opposing views. I have seen the dirty of underbelly of churchianity (I just made that word up) and there are gonna be a lot of very surprised brothas and sistas out there. Jesus said to enter the kingdom requires two things, Love God, Love everyone else, too. What do you get for that? He said "I came to give you life, and that more abundantly." (The bit that condemns churchers more than any other.) So, a TRUE Christian knows how to eat drink and be merry, all the time. Laugh out loud, party hearty, and find beauty everywhere.

You seem a little more high speed than the casual reader. There is a relatively outdated book (for academic purposes) by Beverly and Brian Clack named (not pretentiously) "The Philosophy of Religion". I highly recomend it to you. Not so much for you to learn new things but on how to interpret things you've already learned with a somewhat, almost, objective approach. None of this is objective obviously but... the academic culture now is a little off. Growth is on hold for the moment in western culture.

I will check it out. And If I may, would like to recommend a sermon that actually addresses the subject. It is called "Ten Shekels and a Shirt," by Paris Reidhead. It is easily found on google, and was a "Godsend" to me over fifty yers ago.
