A Fruitful decay

A Fruitful decay

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

"
you don't sleep to wake up
it would be like losing
precious things on purpose
i don't pet cats
simply for the softness
i'm no animal
it runs deeper than that
much but not so much
taste isn't really about eating
full isn't truly about filling
(maybe)
paint's aren't about coloring
death isn't about dying
cold it comes
when warmth you forget to bring
the secret, here
we've all done this before.
animal
enemy
friend
some family,
We have seen this before
Getting lost is part of the journey
(death)
(dying)
people and their pets
pets and their people
life and its loss
loss and that's,
What all of life is
Nothing was allowed for the keeping

You may keep for a period of time, but you never keep forever, because eventually everyone and everything dies, so nothing is for the keeping evermore. Time limits us too. We may have a short or long life, which then means that what we do and what we have is temporary. We own animals; they are for keeping only until they die. Much to think about here.

This poem actually made me think, a lot about the meaning of things. I never heard that song before. Interesting. tyfs

Thanks for sharing the poem, I like your perspective. I myself have a cat, she's getting older now. The dichotomy here is quite interesting.
