I think as we age we become more confident, it's either that or the fact we couldn't give a flying f**k what others think of us.
I remember first posting on here and wondering if both I and what I had to say would be accepted, approved of.
Hope you are keeping well Dave

Thanks for stopping by, I always love interacting with you. Hope all is well on your side of the pond.

This is giving me a signal, "Welcome to the stage of adulthood, maturity and acceptance. Get up and make a difference. Be confident and ignore those who try to pull you back."
Such an confident write Sam.
Thanks,

Everything is now up to you, perhaps not the consequence but the actions that bring you to said consequence... yes, that is what it means to be an adult. To own your decisions and have the fortitude, the discipline, to live with whatever consequence comes from those decisions... for better or for worse. Confidence is not always a pretty thing, certainly not an easy thing but... it is a defining thing. Not everyone can do it.., in fact, most people cannot. They just float along. There is a price to pay for defining yourself in this world. Sometimes it is worth it and more... sometimes, it is disaster and worse. Always, it brings to the surface a type of strength that is invaluable win or lose.

How much time have I spent trying to convince someone of this? Way too much. it's hard to watch someone who is convinced they are nothing waste what they are given. It's harder still to convince them they are something. I sense that frustration here. While this could be seen as an inner dialogue, I see it more as someone on the outside looking in. Maybe that's because I've wasted half my life trying to convince damaged people they are worthy of more than they believe they are. I'll leave it up to you whether to cut your losses or keep trying. Very insightful write!

The single most important trait of a good leader is the ability to bring the best out of people. Everyone has something to offer and the vast majority of us never even see, let alone reach, our true potential. If you can bring the best out of people on regular basis, you are what I like to call a "force multiplier"... your value is exponential. It's hard to find people like that.

All that is good in them that could be used to improve their lot. Unfortunately, they had no desire to improve. Maybe I should work on the skills required to bring those traits out without them realizing I'm doing that!

Never stop trying. That is 90 percent of the problem
Confidence. Those who have it, have the world at their finger tips. Those who don't, have a constant battle on their hands. I imagine someone standing in front of a mirror and talking into it, reciting this poem. Many will relate, not necessarily to every word, but to the spirit of what is being said.

I think every single human would be amazed at what they already had inside if they'd just let go of what's holding them back. The trick is, figuring out what that thing is that's holding you back. It's different for everyone and it's usually something you have to figure out on your own. Usually... some people get lucky, and meet the right people at the right time in the right situation... that's what good leadership is to me, the ability to instill natural confidence in those around you.
