The Dream Within the Nightmare

The Dream Within the Nightmare

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

There is only room for everything.

"
It's not chaos
It is freedom
We are not perfection
We are human
We can't just love
We must also hate
We can't just live
We must also die

Hate isn't necessary! Love is so much easier. To hate someone or something you have to give thought to them. I can't see myself wasting my time on something or someone I dislike. I'd rather ignore them altogether. NO! Sorry! I believe in love and I believe that love doesn't have to balanced by hate.

Simple lines that contain so much truth. We are walking dichotomies, both good and bad living side by side in our hearts. I like the use of extremes here. It reminds me of the reality of our humanity.

I find this to be true everything
has an opposite ..the good and the
bad must be acknowledged as
day ends and we have the night
to dream a balance in all things
It's the law of nature

I'm starting to think it's just one thing, fighting itself, constantly... for a living.
We live in a world of binary opposites: day-night, love-hate, etc. Some might say that's what makes us human, and others might say peace is found in another realm where these opposites are united.

Simple and true. It reminds me of Rufus Wainwright's song "What Would I Ever Do With a Rose?" In it, he states, "Never can the dream come true without the nightmare."

Well done!

I find it difficult to hate. Does that mean I should also find it difficult to love, if you can't have one without the other?

One does not exist without the other.
I quite liked this one. Very sharp and on point. This poem provided me with a better perspective on things.

I'm glad. Perspective is everything.
You played well with the contrasting elements. I fell in love with this work after reading. One can only be nudged into a trance of introspection.

But I may also say that your review of my work was very scathing. It was uncalled for. If my work was that bad, maybe a private message would have called me to order. There was no need for you to have said all that you had said. Your words were at best, very very caustic.

Good work.

You're right. I was overly caustic. I apologize for that.
