Thanks Travis I'm happy to know this makes you hapy.
For your sake, I hope your cat is immortal! Your poems are interesting and thought provoking, whether intended or not. I hope you're not offended that the price of gas has gone down.
Interesting. BTW, the phrase "Time You Enjoy Wasting is Not Wasted Time" may have been said by John Lennon, and there are others that have also given this attribution, unsurprisingly the phrase did not originate with him. There are records of this exact phrase being used in 1912 in the book “Phrynette Married” by Marthe Troly-Curtin. Anyway, back to the poem.
It was the first two lines that immediately stopped me because that is in many ways what I have been doing all my life. And your poem ponders the whys of this. That's a good question. It's a complicated (from a human point of view) question. But I have also made an extended study of complexity theory, and in the end complexity is only a point of view and has no independent meaning. But indeed, it is certainly true that much effort has been made to reduce reality to its bare essentials. What we're really doing is searching for that point of view in which everything is laid bare before us, so we can say "ah...there it is. I see it now". Is that a good enough reason to do this? I don't know. Perhaps. We learn other things in the process that make life easier. It makes life more complex, too (again from a human perspective). Well perhaps the best answer is that I find the exercise fascinating and quite enjoyable. And perhaps that's the best we can hope for. I enjoyed the piece. Thanks for posting.

In some sense, everything is original and everything is derivative. The more you know about something, the more you can see your thoughts are derivative in some way. The less you know, the more they seem original. So what is really better? There is no better. Thought and discussion should be a clearing ground of ideas. Completely original ideas are generally uninformed. Informed thought is generally not original. What is important is correct thought, and this is practically never original. And if it is, it is mere coincidence. Originality? Who cares?? Correct thought? Okay, now that's something. And it really doesn't matter how you got there. Correct is correct. And to be correct it has to be tested, and others need to be involved to get that done. That is, in fact, the scientific method. Unless others conclude the same, it isn't verified, and it's not considered true. As they say, it takes a village. And, BTW, very glad to make your acquaintance.
