I like your inclusion of "to us", because we are the only known observers of the universe. Your poem is food for thought, and it's way more helpful in understanding the universe than mythical stories, no matter how exotic they may be.
An interesting piece. Wonderful ponderings. It is largely because of such things that I became a physicist. And this summarizes the type of thinking that goes on in modern physics. It is the search for "truisms" that cannot be avoided, and which underlie the workings of existence. It's heady business. I enjoyed reading this.

I really don't understand it very well because it involves absurdly complicated math jargon but it's main conclusion is that information cannot ever really be lost… so, nothing can really ever really end. Which, begs the question, can anything really begin without an ending? Which leads one to question the shape of the universe with respect to the progression of time. Space time is where I stop talking... s**t'll drive you insane.

you and me have his quirky synchronicity sometimes :)

We'll be extremely dead by that point but, I would bet on that happening or have already happened several times already. There's probably some absurdly complicated math jargon out there to back me up on this.
How far into the interior of Australia have you hiked into? Have you been to the center? (by feet)

yeah I have been to Uluru and Kata Jutu and Kings Canyon - the energy out there is fantastic :)

I want to see Uluru. It really is one of the last pieces of ancient geographical history that is truly unparalleled in it's age and it's size that hasn't been trivialized or commercialized. I won't climb it obviously, but, I do need to see it. Up close and from far away, Uluru is sacred earth.
I am a lucky girl - This be true - and thankfully Australia is still a lucky country - :)

(being close to Antarctica doesn't count, that's more than excessively cold...) Where we both should really wanna go is gobekli tepe for a day. And then walk all the way to Jericho like they did around 12,500 years ago.
To say the least I found this fascinating. There is so much truth to be found here.
Take care - Dave

I stole this from my years of casually reading about physics. 1 + 1 cannot equal 2 if there is no mathematics... or maybe there is not mathematics if 1 + 1 does not equal 2? The difference is very subtle but it means everything. As well as being virtually unanswerable.

They are this way because they can be "created" this way. Do they actually exist, i.e., have a real substantiation in our Universe? Well, the answer is no. They are purely a construct, but they are a useful construct that is useful in describing the world. Otherwise you couldn't count your sheep or your apples. However the construct is purely human. So why does 1 + 1 = 2? It is because that's what it means to be a Peano number, an integer. And don't forget, that also describes what "+" and "=" mean. And none of this has any meaning outside of our abstraction. So that's a tiny corner of mathematics. And then there's physics, another matter entirely...

As a scientist, I feel a deep obligation to help people understand. This is becoming more and more difficult as science advances, and understanding depends more and more on background training. If I can help in any way, I am gratified.
