just the other day i thought about nothing for the longest time
and i found something very deeply hidden underneath the thought
it was not skin
there was no blood
it was not flesh there was no bone
just this very peculiar notion
that perhaps maybe my future it is not real that maybe even my past it was made up and only here, only right now is all I'll truly ever have something forever
a simulation of a simulation of another simulation (like fractals) of a reality long since past... maybe. Can you tell? Could you even if you wanted to?

I wanted to add this to my library, but the site won't let me!! The damn thing is falling to pieces...anyhow, quite a philosophical write, although you probably meant it more as a science inclined contemplation ... perhaps somewhere in an ideal world where there are more advanced civilizations, they managed to synchronize the science/ philosophy / medicine and religion as a whole, that can help reach heights we never dared to imagine...at least that is what your poem made me think of. And Muse is one of my favorite bands!! ( especially the Space dementia and Map of problematique songs ).

But I don't think any of them will last if they haven't already come to an end in one way or another (the great filter is probably a more accurate concept than we'd like to admit). There will probably never be such a thing as an ideal world as far as living things are concerned, but that doesn't mean we can't create a lovely place none the less. Muse is a wonderful band, not enough people are into them. You should look into last Thursdayism, you're kinda touching on that philosophy

It draws on philosophical statements going all the way back to Bertrand Russel and his "5 minute hypothesis" which basically just states... while relatively improbable, it is not logically impossible for reality to have sprang into existence intact as we are currently observing it just five minutes ago, i.e... you can't completely disprove it. I find 'last thursdayism' to be more of a satirical philosophy and really just a modern play off of a thought experiment/critical response to Boltzmann's explanation for why our current universe is at a lower entropy state than thermodynamics as we know it would predict, known as the "Boltzmann Brain" which is what this poem was partially based on. Last Thursdayism is fun, especially because it pisses of creationists, but it lacks the mathematical depth of the Boltzmann Brain thought experiment. It's all basically just reduction ad absurdum types of responses to our lack of a complete understanding of the physical universe. Thanks for stimulating a more in-depth reason out of me with that comment.
yeah, know that thought, glimpses, it comes in glimpses -of course with your science mind you break that down in your own way - with my 'hippie' mind the thought came when I was attending Vipassana. It is naive to think that the human view is the only reality - and yet we find it so hard to separate ourselves from it. Everything is happening all at once. Every perception is being simultaneously perceived in another way, in another reality, another dimension, all the answers are already there -yes - thoughts have wings - which direction we choose to take them - well that is up to how limited we choose for ourselves to be right?
I find your writing is always a good jumping point off into the pool of thoughts stream I like to hang out in _ i thank you for that - haven't visited this spot for a while :)

The entire concept of having or not having an answer is a human creation and not a natural state of anything... i.e. knowing is irrelevant to what is real... the laws of thermodynamics still exist no matter what we call them. We've evolved to interpret a very tiny sliver of reality, modern science has taken us a little further but we're still pretty confused about what's really going on for the most part. That doesn't mean it's being perceived in "another way" or any of that bullshit... more likely it means there's a much larger picture that we will never be a part of due to time, entropy and the normal state of things being mostly a violent, hostile place on the way to a very cold nothing. And ironically, life needed it to be a very violent and hostile place or the luck of our current existence would never have come to pass. Every element in your body (outside of hydrogen, helium and a tiny bit of lithium... the only elements the big bang "created") came from a star fusing basic elements into heavier elements and going supernova some several billions of years ago. The chemistry of life would not exist without incredible amounts of destruction. It's far more likely that there are no special beings or states of being or frames of observation that can inform us to what's really going on. We just got lucky and it's probably not going to last more than a few million years (likely far less) at a time over the course of maybe a few billion more years. The trajectory of the universe is that of a cold, lifeless death where nothing happens. There are both negative states and positive states of energy (this is real physics not woo woo hippie stuff)... when you add them up it comes out to zero. Everything we see and are is probably just a quantum hiccup that created something out of empty space that may or may not happen again depending upon how real the term "infinity" really is. If space-time really is infinite though... we're both going to be right because everything that can happen will happen. I'm not so sure about that though.

Seems like an awakening of some kind. Maybe you can make something of that understanding, use it to find some sort of meaning in life.
