to the point of being

outraged at nothing

to be outraged about

in this circle of outrageous
perpetually outraged

group thinking 'individuals'

there's this adorable culture

so very angry with anger

they forgot how to be happy

and getting so very hungry

for anger and outrage

they devour each other

with anger and outrage

I don't think it's about materialism. I think it's about using anger driven virtue signaling to instill a false sense of moral authority and feel like part of a group that's on the 'right' side of things for shutting down anyone or anything that isn't exactly like they want them to be. Being a materialistic society has very little to probably nothing to do with that, the widespread use of social media is one of the main drivers of it's ascension to prevalence but it was always there and is present to one degree or another in every type of society. Even in a "spiritual" society there will people who get angry at others for being too "materialistic" or not "spiritual" enough or too concerned with the "body" and not the "soul".


You can be a complete materialist, a total spiritualist or anywhere in between without feeling the need to constantly be outraged at any kind of disagreement, or at any type of person for not being exactly how you think they should be.
