We shape ourselves, sub consciously, consciously, from past experiences, using both good and bad to hopefully make us a better person.I've tried this as a father, being to my daughter all that I would have wanted from my old man if he had bothered to stick around.

The world became a slightly worse place that day she passed... but she did a lovely job of raising you and that is something that will carry on for as long as there's humans on this earth.
I keep forgetting who said this... "you're always alive for as long as someone remembers you". I'd take it a step further and say, a person is alive as long as their progeny survives. Your children and their children and their children etc... it's a cultural evolution as well as a biological evolution. Your mom is still alive in that way... just like you will survive long after you're dead.

I'm fortunate to have some very loyal, loving friends and a wife and child that are nothing but beautiful.

I like this one. It has breath and balance. That makes me go beyond thinking. I would say this is a happy poem. Where we see how life has changed us.

Anyway, happy is a relative term. Some are more happy to be unhappy and I think they balance out those are only happy to be happy. An eternal pessimist would be truly lost without the eternal optimist.
That's why I don't believe in regrets. The things we did in the past really shape us to what we are today- stronger and persistent.

I have a certain tenacity that is tempered by my regrets, they refine my drive to not be lessened by my mistakes but more useful to the world going forward because of them. Some people call it maturity but, I will always be pretty immature so they call all go fug themselves... it's more fun this way as long as you're not unethical.
