This reminds me of how my brother's felt when they got home from Vietnam. They had a hard time readjusting to family life. It took them awhile to make peace with the past, but I think they finally did before the end.

Not everyone can afford it, even after a lifetime. I'm glad they finally did. I don't know if I would be able to myself if I had to do the Vietnam thing, that was the last truly nasty large scale war for us. Nothing even close to it has been seen since in terms of regular US military combat. Your brothers were strong men and it seems they truly proved that in the very end.

I wish I knew some things about it before I watched it for the first time. Normally I would never say that because I think it's important for the viewer to take their own interpretation from any sort of art. But this is one of those movies that is improved from knowing what you're about to watch beforehand; it's a very, very good movie but it hides it's meaning in the abstract too much so it's almost always underrated...
spend 20 minutes on this youtube video I'm linking below. It's something I really wish I saw before I watched it for the first time.

I hate poetry. I don't understand what the aim is "to be poetic". "Look at me, I'm so profound. How profound am I? I'm so profound that I'm not profound, I'm some quality that has not yet a name like a degree of profundity that is so severe it forms a paradox to destroy itself." I prefer songs. Honesty is important, but brace yourself.

That exposes you're true intentions... and I just lost respect for you over that. You don't have to like what I write, but if you're gonna throw shade you need to do it specifically not just generically. I'm pretty sure you didn't read a word of that poem. You came here with a review in mind. Again... I just lost respect for you.
