It just seems so sad to me, in a way, that we go through and endure so much in this life, as an individual, and all in the end is as nothing. David, your poem brings to mind things worthy thinking about on a higher level, for all of us. Thank you for sharing and the opportunity to comment. Take care my friend :)
"we are flesh prisons for an ego." I can't remember who said it but that quote has been on my brain all day. and I thought I would share it with you because it seems relevant for whatever reason.

How about "the hell bound heart"? Or Hellraiser 1?

This age old discussion is always seen through the lens of this world. from the joys of your life to the
misery of life in Bangladesh. what we do here has meaning here. It is the next place where this world is
irrelevant and our endeavors futile. When you look back at this place you will have seen through both eyes.

It's David Demers and I'm from a small town called Johnsburg in Illinois. Are you seriously trying to intimidate me with that BS? That's not going to work if that's what you're trying to do and will only serve to make you look foolish and petty. My advice to you would be to just move on and ignore me if I arouse that kind of reaction... you know, like an adult is supposed to do.

This little poem left its mark on me. A really strong opening, and a very strong finish. The ending left me with feelings of dismay.

We awake and fall asleep and in between will be our everything. Feeling dismay is probably accurate but it is not rational for a positive thinking person to dwell upon. If everybody constantly considered how none of us was likely to ever win this "race" we'd all probably stop "racing". I have to admit, it's wasn't a healthy frame of mind where this poem came from... but I think it's a version of truth none the less. Conundrum is my third favorite word.
Such a beautiful masterpiece highlighting the tragedy of memory, of forgetting or being forgotten which is put in yout work as inevitable and bound to happen. Such a new perspective.
