"love me with hatred, show me your anger, give me your love, take from me everything" The first three lines in this quote are a beautiful way of asking the addresse to give their everything- the love, the hate, the anger, the good, the bad. There's a sense of allowing the wall to come down, the show and the fake glamour to disappear-- to allow yourself to be vulnerable with another human being which in turn becomes something deeper and more beautiful. It's a theme in a few of my own poems, and one I enjoy writing about. Beautifully done.
Opposite ends of the spectrum here. I do like your opening line 'stop trying to drink with your lungs'. That is a memorable line and conjures up such struggles. All your little stanzas are unrelated, stand alone and yet as a poem it all comes together.
I've been listening to this album - generally at 4:30am on my way to work
love me with your hatred - this reminds me of taking a walk to the darkest edge for some reason - yes walk to the darkest edge just to see what can be found - even though it may be filled with fear of the unknown the exploration is required just to know, to feel what's there to travel through that path toward acceptance of all
which
Funnily enough
leads right on down that same path in your words above
well
I'm probably way off the mark here - but that's what the universe spat out at me just right now :D
