The most inspirational person I know is my best mates daughter, Grace, who whilst undergoing treatment for brain cancer aged 14, told her mum that if she survived she too would become a nurse and give something back to society. Now aged 25 she is qualified, trained to administer the drugs needed to treat cancer and gets married this year on the 30/12. A beautiful, beautiful human being, like a second daughter to me.

Most of us just kinda give up and seek the path of least resistance though. Grace seems like the latter. Thanks for stopping by and sharing that story with me.
remarkable achievements indeed & fittingly posted here my friend..

If not the same words, the same spirit as Henley's "Invictus." Very nice.

I will never forget the last lines "I am the master of my fate / I am the captain of my soul". My thoughts tend to be eclectic but some things I remember through any change of mood. Usually I'd take your cue and praise the previous greats but, nah, I kinda like my version better.
An inspirational write if ever there was, nuff said by me, these fine words more than speak for themselves, no.. they do more than that, they shout out an important truth and message to and for all of us... Neville

Haven't watched the video but love the poem.
It's amazing what you can achieve with the right motivation.
It's like a warmth in your chest, fire in the belly.
When you write stuff like this I'm reminded that you could be a great motivational speaker spreading goodness and inspiring people (but you'd probably have to be nice to everyone, all the time.)

To psyche oneself like that, to plunge into and overcome something that one dreads, really needs stunning, almost crazy determination. One thing he said that really struck me was that bodily comfort is inversely proportional to mental comfort. It’s very true but most of us just take it and go on living with it (and maybe die regretting because deep down we all know what we’re capable of) That guy really is incredible (and nice looking too) Your words flow very well and really capture his message here David. Just loved it, thanks.

This is such a lovely, inspirational piece, and it makes me feel motivated. You do really well in your flow and word placement. I love your use of spaces and sentence structure. It all makes for a fast paced, fabulous read.

I'm really happy to have motivated you, if only a little bit. Thanks for reading me.
When I read your lines I had sports men and women on my mind first. The record breakers, the achievers, those who have dedicated themselves to attaining the heights. Then I thought of mountaineers, the conquering of Everest, and those like Shackleton who died in his attempt to be the first to reach the North Pole. Then I thought of things on a more personal level and the sort of day to day struggles very ordinary people have and the highs they can get if something goes to plan. And what if things don't go to plan and how those struggles manifest themselves. In life all of us have a mountain to climb. A few will be totally successful and achieve what they set out to do, most will not. Thought provoking Greetings David.
