My Best Friend

My Best Friend

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

me and him and i

"
you're adorable dave
"i know..."
but it's not in a good way
 though

we see crazy people together
we say things crazy about each other
we've done unspeakable

things
together

pretending good friends are like coins
to be had
to be spent
to be tossed
aside

because we have each other

dave. . .
you don't know how to live,
how is it that we've survived. . .
through this and through that
and through everything?

through all of this?
(just you and me?)
against all the monsters. . .?

so people watch
our life like a strange event
a car accident or something
ending up like this
or that, kind of strange event

this is not what we think

my friend,
I cannot lie to you. . .

you are my only one
the best of all the rest
my only friend

i'd f****n' die for you
and i'd have killed myself
so many years ago...
if not for you
 my dear dear friend

dave…

i love you man
(i love you too)

even if
   we are insane
i'm always here for you

but,
this may not end up well

I have more understanding of this than you probably think. I know of two people who live their lives in this way. They have been friends for years. They are there for each other through thick, thin and trouble. And there is plenty of trouble. They certainly aren't particularly good for each other but the alternative would be loneliness and loneliness is deadly too. Your last line resonated and I am nodding my head in understanding. Good morning David

Chris

I've come back to this because it could also be about one person with a mental health disorder.

Same as Christmas. The true meaning has long gone for most.

Liked this...I mean we are the only ones who really understand what we are going through...what runs around in our heads....and we are always there to have a little chat to when ever we are needed. Thanks for sharing

We all talk to ourselves... just not out loud too much. (or they'll call you schizophrenic)

Gee
Here's hoping you get to share both your life and mind with that special one, they would probably need to be the polar opposite of you though, but have to be on the same intellectual level. It's either that or an array of blow up lovers all with that shocked look on their faces and ever willing "O" shaped mouth :)
My best mate keeps one behind the bar in his garden, calls her Shirley, has her dressed in his favourite football teams kit, West Ham United. I don't think he's ever knocked her, well, I'm hoping he hasnt.
Good morning David.

This may be the voice of a man who is alone but not a man who will ever be lonely. It’s the best kind of partnership there is and I wholly subscribe to it. I’m sure it will all end well.

Alone but not lonely... you know me fairly well despite our interactions being relatively limited
