if it ever was not

if it ever was not

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"
wrap yourself in a flag
and judge the world from a couch

prop yourself off accomplishment's
you had nothing to do with

lay claim to that pride
everyday
like a ritual

because you own a house
and have things to pay for
on a land you just happen to occupy

from birth
what you had nothing to do with
like the rest of us now

in this place we live now,
there is no loyalty

now
only brand's

as it's all just a business
  very cleverly disguised
(sometimes in a flag)

and if it ever was not
   it certainly is now
