An Excellent Lawyer

An Excellent Lawyer

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"
first, you sharpen your claws
on things that don't matter
then, you find all the corners
and you find how to cut them
perfectly when you practice
so you can play the games fairly
when it certainly matters
but still,
certainly look like a cheater
regardless,
just to make the opposition
     . . .     incredibly unstable

you will focus your frustrations
on making others frustrated
you will cut to the bone
with logical absurdities
character assassinations
and an undermining of systems
you will make them uncomfortable
like a twelve year old child in college

you will skew the subconscious
of every single thing in that room
with every trick you can muster
with every single fact you can twist
with every other aspect you question
and every goal. . . eventually
 is pure intellectual chaos
   and doubt and/or pity and/or hope and/or
                                                                    "whatever, whatever"

no matter the case
no matter the client
no matter the victim
all our tricks they are always the same
 no matter the side
 no matter the times
 no matter the matter

because. . .
guilt was always irrelevant
and innocence. . .
just a side effect of winning
because. . .
it's all just a competition
. . . all of it, every part of it
and baby doll,
i rarely lose at anything

Wow. Haha- you definitely captured the definition of lawyers. You are really detailled... Are you secretly a lawyer?
Haha- nice job. This poem was edgy but playful at the same time. That hit at the end "and baby doll I rarely lose at anything" was a huge impact. This was great!

Thanks. And no, thankfully I'm not secretly a lawyer.

Once I committed to this poem, I was all in. It's very well done. In reviews, I often refer to favorite lines, but this poem lends too many to single out only a few. Reading the poem out loud, got me fired up; it got my heart beating a bit quicker. I loved it through and through. Great work.

I know this is a serious poem, but I couldn't help smiling as I read it. It was just that good. I like the imagery, I like the flow, and I definitely like the message. Kudos. 🤗

A serious smile? That's high praise. Thanks for that.
