Unless You're Born Rich

Unless You're Born Rich

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

nature's a B..ch

"
the veins in your left arm
stick out just a little bit more
because that's where the heart
is just a little bit closer to

the opinions from your forebrain
always mean a lot more
because that's where your thoughts
     are truly formed from

and the hate that you brew
or maybe the peace that you sell
or the indifference that you live
all come from the place

     that you were born from

roses don't grow in landfills

weeds don't grow in rich gardens

and murderous devastation
is not a common occurrence

     among certain societies
     with certain opportunities

and our insidious hatred
it all comes from a place
just like our sweet tasty tolerance
                                comes from a place

we are all so f*****g similar
but we grow in such different places
in such different spaces
among such different peoples

and that is what forms us
who we are is where we are from

so our nature's a b***h
unless you're born rich

and the luckiest can't even tell
why they are hated
                          oh what a blessing
oh what a curse
                        when violence is optional
and starving is irrelevant

en masse

               humans rarely make sense
regardless
   this world is insane
in one way
   or another

we all have far less control
than we're born to believe

I hope it didn't sound too preachy. To be honest I wasn't sure if this poem was gonna work.

In a way, it brings to mind the bees...
All bees develop from the same genome. All female larvae have the potential to become either workers or queens. Researchers have shown that diet plays a key role in what bee larvae develop into. Each type of bee does one task extremely well, to the detriment of other skills. The fact that bees can develop so differently from the same genome makes them useful model for exploring our own psycho social development.

Could money be likened to the jelly in the larval diet....?

A true poem with meaning, we are all products of the environment we
were born into, all thoughts are just information we have collected over time, great poem.
