A generation obsessed with the next big thing. . . it's exhausting just talking about it

So what, exactly, is a hype culture?
It must be the best thing. . . EVER!
Or it has to be the worst thing. . . OF ALL TIME!
Totally and absolutely. . . it's gotta be fuggin' AWESOME!
Completely and breathtakingly. . . it's clearly frickin' TERRIBLE!
If it isn't some type of AMAZING

It's gotta be some kind of DISASTER

Blimey, this sounds just like some of the crap coming my way from teenagers. Same awesome vocab, half a dozen words that cover everything. Amazing innit? What a disaster it would be without U Tube to find out about the next big hype:))

Amazingly annoying is what it usually is. But not everything is bad on youtube… just the overwhelming majority of it.

I was hoping the social media hype culture would fade away over time... it doesn't look like that's going to happen. It's getting worse.

Spend enough time on youtube and you will find both ends of the spectrum. Occasionally you might come across a rational, nuanced take on something but that rarely drives traffic/adrevenue for the 12 - 25 year old demographic. The 'hype-beast' is what sells. Rational s**t tends to bore the youth more than ever these days.

But if you're just talking about this particular site though, yeah, you're 100% correct. If you're not over the top nice, saying BS like... "this is totally amazing!!" or "you're an incredible writer!" or some other vague glad handing statement people tend to get offended. And if you're truly honest, they will probably block you. I'd review more of what I read but I've already been blocked by about 1/3rd of this site already and I'm running out of readers for my own bullshit hug box of a comment section.
