embarrassing secrets
you spent your life hiding

deep down in your core

feed me now

what i've been waiting for

that always and eventually
i'll be going way too far

because i'm a f*****g monster. . .
          one cold emotional vampire

with some charm
irresistible 

and a need to feed

insatiable 
           someone always lets me in

          and eventually

          voraciously

if it be, that the two meet at the table
the feast goes beyond feeding
it goes beyond blood
into places of bestial sucking
so dark, so shamelessly, lustfully deep

Sex is definitely part of it. Perhaps the best way to solidify an emotional grip on someone is through sex. It creates a bond through one of the most instinctual activities a living thing can take part in. Exploiting that bond is not very hard so I've heard. People do all kinds of irrational and counter productive s**t when sex is added to the relationship.

Indeed, there is sexual attraction that's so intense, it can paralyze the rational parts of the mind becoming the cynosure of all wakeful thought. It must be channelized into something creative to prevent it from becoming counter productive as you say. Till as such time that it can be consummated :)

Even after consummation, sex still remains a potential weapon. Especially for the ladies... most men don't have real control over the carnal desires.

Wow, feeding and consumption in relationships. Never considered this before. I'm left thinking, I wouldn't want to be consumed, eaten alive. My deepest darkest secrets (and we all have them) stay where I want them, out of sight, out of mind, and only to be resurrected as and when I say so and for my benefit alone. Your Emotional Vampire is very needy.

Not so much needy, more like hungry... for other people's life essence. We all feed off each other's emotions but usually it's give and take for the good of both parties involved, like inspiration or emotional support or something of that nature. Emotional vampires just take and they do so in a sociopathic kind of way. They are sometimes called 'psychic vampires'; they've been written about as far back as the 1930's and probably far earlier but under a different pretext.

I can see how it can work on a give or take basis for the good of both in the examples you have given, but step over that line and it can't be healthy.

It's a very subjective line. Some people can't exist without being open and sharing with other people, some people can't exist without being closed and sharing as little as possible with other people... and almost everyone else falls somewhere in between that spectrum. The kind of person I'm writing about in the above poem exists on an entirely different scale, they are intent upon draining the emotional energy from another purely for selfish reasons. They only ever pretend to care about anyone else as a means to an end, ultimately the only 'happiness' that person can care about is their own. Some of them are more aggressive and manipulative, but at the end of the day none of them they are all selfish narcopaths.
