Dreaming Awake / The Really Unreal

Dreaming Awake / The Really Unreal

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

"
In the face of a life of uncertainty
We all of us must take our leaps of faith
Everyone of us must do this, eventually
We all must plunge headfirst. . .
Into the labyrinth's of our mind's
We all of us must do this
We all of us must assume things
We all of us must warp time
     Into memories
     Into feelings
     Into identities
To battle the cold uncertainties
     Of objectively being... something
And our inabilities to know for certain
     ... anything

So we remember ourselves
So we remember each other

In bits and in pieces

In starts and in stops

We remember our past
    Like a dream. . .

Like a dream
Never starts at it's beginning
Like the living mind
Never remembers it's birthing

So how sure are you of your memories?
How sure are you of yourself in your dreams?
Is this, right here and right now... the logic of living?
Or are all of us just pieces to the logic of dreams?

And would you even want to know...      if you really could?

      does it even really matter?
one way or the other. . .

How sure am I of memories? In the main, fairly sure. Maybe slightly distorted. Perhaps the good I am more inclined to see through rose tinted glasses and perhaps the bad at times can be both worse than I remembered it and not quite as awful. Dreams though, well they are weird. I'm not sure I get what dreaming awake is? I find sometimes when dreaming while asleep, when I wake up I can laugh and think I would never have taken that course of action in real life. Your words are thought provoking.

Yes, that makes a good deal of sense. At 17 you've hardly lived.
