at first, and then in a different way, until the end, and then it's the same again
we all live our lives alike no matter what you speak we all live the human way we all share the blood of life so we love until we cant and you touch until hurts so you'll feel until you wont we'll all breath until we cant and everyone gets hurt and some will just go numb and some wont feel at all while some can love it all
and some will always find the heart
and feel the heat of human spark
still some wont look at all until their final fall as we all leave the ones we love as we all get left by those we loved we all have that one last call and we all have our closing bell
but some of us will first, just live a little more
As a species we have most things in common. We all bleed, we all sleep, eat, etc, etc. What is different are our emotions and they are all powerful. And that is what separates each one of us. Can you imagine living without feeling? Some people just exist, they don't live. Interesting thoughts.

It's hard to come back from that kind of thing, usually it's just luck or some kind of psychological breaking point gets hit that brings a person back from that. I think one of the major flaws of modern psychology is relying on medication as the first line of defense. Not to say the meds aren't helpful but some people rely on them and only them because it's easier to feel nothing than it is to find out the root cause of the problem. Finding that out is usually extremely painful and the reward is rarely immediate... it's usually going to cause more pain for a short while before it helps. Of course, there are some types of psychological problems in which the only course of action is medication... a lot of medication. Sometimes being numb is what keeps someone from committing suicide. Consciousness is a strange thing.

It wasn't until I had counselling and got to the root of my problem, (I didn't even know what it was) that my depression went. Yes, it was painful, but it worked, and the depression hasn't come back, and that was over 10 years ago. That numbness is awful.

Well there's 300 million people worldwide suffering from depression. That's pretty common to me.

Each to their own but I'd be giving the Tom Cruise and Jesus solutions a miss.

Yeah... those approaches I find to be, not at all productive, to put it politely.
Awesome, I love this. My favourite of yours I have read so far. We do indeed all live our lives alike and those points of similarity you have chosen to hilight are extremely moving. I think this is a great piece of writing!

Thanks elle. I'm glad I could touch you with this.
This poems offers so much to think upon and one of that is that I felt sad for those who are fighting a losing battle with the blues. It's hard not to relate to your words personally and I feel I have seen and dwelt quite a bit with the dark demons in my head, having been severely anorexic for all teenage years with no family support, no medical/ psychiatric aid, indeed, where I grew up, the disease was unheard of and a "whim" or a "luxury". I fought it with insight and a very strong, underlying faith in God and that's what keeps me afloat and alive and is also the basis of my faith in those I love and care about. One can call it a drug, a delusion but it never fails to come through for me. I can gladly believe, I'll be the ones in your poem who hope to think and feel and love and live till the end takes me. I'm so happy David. ⚘

I don't believe in god but I believe in the power of religious belief. Is that not the same thing? (at least until we die, then one of us will be pleased the other damned or at worse... we both end up as nothing... even if it means I'm damned, I still kinda hope there's a god; for at least I will still get to keep playing)
