Sometimes I chose the side
sometimes the side chose me
Yet I fought the good fight
And a fight is never fought good unless we relish it
Naked I became to the world
yet all I cared for was how my
naked bits appeared to him
God is near me but the devil is in me, the devil is me. How can I abhor him?
In this world of smoke, haze and doubt, I struggle to draw a breath, often craving for the air in my beloved's sweet breath
If I knew why I was here just if you knew why you were here, we'd just hurry along our paths. No clutching at straws
No clinging to each other
And that matters to me
A very introspective piece. Thank you for sharing it :) ⚘

That bit about "if I knew why I was here... we'd just hurry along our paths"... that's a pretty fancy take on deterministic philosophy You wouldn't happen to be a fan of a dead French dude named Jean Baudrillard by any chance would you?

Thankfully for you and the rest of us. Ugh.. his writing is tedious to the point of rage inducement... please never write like him specifically... his writing makes me want to drown babies. But more seriously, his writing on determinism with respect to modern society (among other things) is transcendently profound... it'll change your life if you can stand his syntax. He's the fellow the Wachowski's loosely based the Matrix movies off of. Very, very, loosely based off... they actually fucked it up pretty bad from an intellectual standpoint. The book is called Simulacra and Simulation... and it's a total pain in the a*s to read. But completely brilliant, one of the best things I've ever read.

Baudrillard is a genius but his writing will make you tear your hair out. Go for the cliff notes version. It's not even a long book, around 150sh pages if I remember correctly. But it is the longest 150ish pages you'll ever spend your time on. Cliff notes that thing.
When children arrive in your life everything changes. They become your passion, your duty, every fibre of your being is put into nurturing and keeping them are.
Devil and God, I reckon they're one and the same, a split personality loony taking the piss out of those that believe.
What an interesting and thought provoking little poem. Listening to the music by the way. Sort of stuff my grandsons love. What really gets them going, is if I attempt to dance to it lol. Always get a reaction and get their attention.
I never relish a fight but once I have a cause, I will fight with passion. When it comes to big issues, like what pathway the UK are taking then I'm in the battle. Same as issues to do with the welfare of family etc. I will fight for their rights to get what they are entitled to, especially with healthcare and housing issues.
It is always the look that I love. Not worried about how it looks to others. Confident in my own decisions.
I do not fear any God, the religion thingy disappeared years ago, although I was a regular churchgoer as a youngster. The devil is within us all without doubt. He bothers me. We are all capable of doing monstrous things if pushed to the limit. I am sure that's why I can't look at violence, because I fear what I am capable of.
I breathe by instinct and lastly I ponder on why I am here, but don't really care particularly why I am here. But while I am then my family come first and always will and I am passionate about that, as I am about poetry.
Cup of tea beckons now. Good morning from across the pond David.

I love your reviews. You don't f**k around and are very honest with your feelings. I will never not respect that no matter what is said.
I have a taste for almost any kind of music if the lyrics aren't purely superficial. The style is irrelevant to me. But for a better song we can both enjoy, how about, Bobby Darin's "beyond the sea"? It's not perfectly apt but it is a damn near perfect song in my opinion.

Lady Ella is not far behind of course. Music these days (2010 to the present) is, ugh, not very good. How they perform live is a testament to that. It's usually lip synced or auto tuned and filled with side show gimmicks. The raw talent takes a back seat to appearances now; it's almost tragic as most of the greats are now dead and they aren't being replaced. If you like classical music, Anne Sophie Mutter is still kickin' around though... you can't fake what she does with her violin.

Can make me cry, but I think maybe more to do with being the finale for JC. No one can replace Ella in my books, although Amy Winehouse (poor, sad, but brilliant Amy) if she had lived longer would have touched Ella's shoulder. Now I must away. Have a good week-end. And thanks for that music play. You know, I really appreciated that.
