A Plague in Slow-Motion

A Plague in Slow-Motion

A Poem by Davidgeo

Like a plague in slow-motion

I can see the physical erosion

Of the very health of my nation

Almost everyone gets sick now

Eventually

Almost everyone is on drugs

At some point for some reason

Eventually

Like it's a western tradition

Eventually everyone’s unhealthy

Goes crazy

Gets cancer

With a touch of obesity

And a bit 'o diabetes

Just ask old Mr Wilford Brimley

Common is not always normal

Over time

I don’t care if I live longer

Quality of life is more important

I don’t need to outlast cancer

I can chose not to suffer

Euthanasia indeed one day may work for me

( or maybe I'll just eat healthier beforehand

and die of a heart attack while running up a very steep hill

pretending not to be too old for that s**t )

Death comes to everybody, as is understood by everybody, but some people come to death. My heart grows overtime for those individuals who struggle with drug addictions. Your poem hit me, sir. Thank you very much.

I agree with the things you wrote there about living a life of quality is better than living longer.

This poem was very good, and sadly I have to agree with this poem with how things are now and days. I also liked the ending in a way it was kind of like a comic relief, because you wrote about how everyone will have some type of health problem and we need to accept it, then in the parenthesses you talk about an interesting way that you could die. Keep up the good work.
