i am not an idea
however wrong today
i will exist here tomorrow
evolving quite constantly
i am not an occupation
i am this bipolar monkey
in the business of being me
perpetually incomplete
unfinished almost perfectly
until the day that i die
on the day i retire
and become an idea
I like how it goes back to the first line about being "an idea" in the end. There's a name for doing that, but I can't remember what it's called.
I derived a meaning of growing continuously in this life, and never reaching perfection, but being perfectly yourself in imperfection. I'm intrigued by the "bipolar monkey" phrase.

I think the term bipolar is underused. I'm not even a legitiamly insane person but every once in a while my entire outlook changes in a way that is too drastic for me to fully understand.
There was another stanza to that poem... i kinda think what I just won't make sense to you without it.

Ha... if you were slightly older I would try and sex with you.
We are not ideas-brilliant-we are humans, and we are present and we are living, and unlike an idea we can't be controlled or moved on from, we will keep on being until the day when we can no longer. A perfect example of untamable imperfection.
Not quite sure what you meant by when we retire we do become an idea though, is it that we are no longer as capable as when were younger and more able to fulfil our aspirations and take them further than an idea-if so that is very sad-or were you just referring to death again??
Lovely, slightly strange read, well done

Sorry for the strangeness, it would probably suck without it though.

You've become your own idea, thought provoking, I'm a pessimist when referring to myself, or my life, this is to me anyway, one's self looking at what they would like to be, but only achieving it when they've gone, as in an Artist, works only popular after they pass. I liked it, you can tell, i wrote to much.

To me that just means they have low expectations. I think it is wise to hold oneself to a borderline unrealistic standard. Failing to reach that standard is not a bad thing, failing to keep striving after a setback sure is though. Our ultimate goals are not really what defines us, how we take on the challenges in front of those goals is everything... some people eventually give up, accept their position and personally/professionally/emotionally stagnate for the remainder of their days... others keep trying and striving for an idealistic standard they may never fully realize that but, they will never stop growing and finding things out about themselves and the world around them.

Even Michael Jordan's goals were far higher than what he acheived.... one his favorite things to say was "i can't accept not trying"; and I think that mindset was the secret to his success. Not the actual successes, but how he handled the failrure.

I think bi-polar people are very complete. More complete that those who define themselves as normal. After all, they have the best of both worlds. Don't they? (Forgive me if I sound insensitive. I am bi-polar) As regards monkeys being bi-polar, that's interesting. And novel.

It's both awesome and a f*****g nightmare.
