but we don't wake up - we are still sifting through the same old s**t - I mean how one dimensional are humans that we just can't seem to progress past the same old s**t - because we can't seem to get past it we have to invent AI to help us to get us past it - then the AI will enventually wipe out humankind and what will we have learnt? Nothing.

It's getting worse. In America anyway, political ideology is becoming more and more polarized. The left is turning into PC fascism and the right is turning to tribal identity politics... both completely unwilling to listen to the other. The sad part is that they are both pushing a bullshit narrative... the vast majority of people get along, are willing to listen and hold moderate (rational and practical) views. But because the extremists from either side are so f*****g loud and disingenuous, because no one wants to watch a youtube video of rational people finding a common, they make it look like there is more social chaos than is really present. What's truly terrifying is that if this continues as projected their bullshit narrative has a chance to become a reality. Part of the Russian hacking scandal is to do precisely that... create fake social media accounts by the millions spamming the entire world of social media with divisive bullshit and with enough saturation - if you tell the lie enough times... it becomes true.

Conflict is general is unavoidable. At times it can even be extremely beneficial (evolution does not work without conflict). But conflict just for the sake of conflict is childish and not a good political leadership style (unless your goal is to distract).
