Long Game

Long Game

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

. cells divide .

"

the prize divides him
into two men
one for sport
and one for glory

the prize divides us
into two sorts
one for play
and one for blood

this prize divides us
into predator. . .
and into prey

this prize divides us
from what does
and what does not
survive us

over time;
what goes extinct
what stays extant
     this does not matter

     over this prize. . .
we will divide forever

no matter what we look like

     that does not matter

it's the prize that drives us
