Everything's Ephemeral (especially pleasure)

Everything's Ephemeral (especially pleasure)

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"

sever anger, sever failure

unconstant victory,

  all expectation,

disappointment. . .

  (can you see?)

what kills every moment after climax

   (cut yourself. . .

what kills the simplicity of intimacy,

      . . . deeply)

      and every single thing suspected

 (sigh)

beyond all expectation

        beyond reason

     (is something else)

existence is a mystery to us

we can never get too close, without dying

sometimes naked and alone

in a new thought

before being forgotten again

like tears in the rain

or picked flowers from a dying garden

    beautifully (temporarily) taken

  beautifully arranged, presented

(like all of us, eventually)

             dissolved over time

   but no worries, darling

  never that . . . over this

as none of that matters

as every single thing is ephemeral

(everything does end eventually)

    darling,

my love,    let us just have one more round

here tonight. . .

in jest we shall cheers!   (and maybe admit it)

---and then do this all over again, but from the other side

(not every single thing is ephemeral)
