For the longest time
I thought I was captain flint
But I wasn’t . . .

I know that now

And
All
This
Time

I've been living
Hidden
As something
   much worse
     and unaddressed

Alone
Consuming ash
In the dark
As a ghost

Please dear,

Let me tell you this. . .
          There be dragon's in the darkness
          And a million john silver's
          Warring
          Without the knowledge
                       That the best treasure is never golden

Or worth anything tangible
              Not myth
Or state secret
          But suffering,
             Strife,
         Pain, and belligerence
     Instead
We fight for the sake of violence

In the hope of control

existentially

and poorly articulated

non obvious

and slightly stoopid
It's what's in you

don't be afraid of evolution

    my dear
Where the riches do come from
     extraordinary
Circumstances
      surviving hell
It's something special
Something precious

Beyond precious
And entirely disposable

(c'est la vie)
and que sera sera

Whatever will be will likely be
It will happen again you see
It will happen again

Again
   (life is hell)
And survival is bliss
Until it is not
When it ends
     and we're dead
       (could you say that you've lived?)

Wow, this is really impressive. "The best treasure is never golden" and "Consuming ash in the dark as a ghost" are great lines. Only thing is I think "Cie" should be "C'est." Great job

I really enjoyed reading this Dave ... Very insightful, wise thoughts and words. It's not easy to face who we really are but if we spend a little time looking inward we might be surprised at what we find! Impressive write!
