an awareness of dying (revised)

we are all of us together trapped
in a prison made of needs passed
over eons, the things that made us last
now manifests in nuerotic traits
like religion, like obsessive masturbation
really anything very vigorously pursued
like a life consuming aspiration
to make the world a better place
or maybe a soul crushing proffession
to leave behind a legacy
even better perhaps a crippling addiction
to just run away and simply numb the pain
all these motives to me seem similar
(subconciously)
masking the overwhelming futility
of an unknowable question....

Meat Cat, this crawls under the skin as more than a keen awareness it is raw. These words are down to the bone so real. I will think of them again and remember that once one cuts down under the surface our essence our being is the same.
